About Pinehurst
Living in Pinehurst
Pinehurst of Atascocita is one of the signature neighborhoods of Atascocita, the unincorporated community in northeast Harris County along the west side of Lake Houston. It is home to the Atascocita golf course, which was built in 1956 as a 27 hole course in the Pinehurst community, decades before most of the surrounding subdivisions existed. Its three nines carry names tied to the area, including Pinehurst, Shores and Point. The course gave the neighborhood its identity early on.
The neighborhood is large. HAR records show about 1,540 single family homes, with a median build year of 1982, plus a small townhome section. Lots are the headline here: the median is more than 10,000 square feet, well above what you will find in most Atascocita subdivisions, and homes average close to 2,800 square feet with four bedrooms. You will see a wide variety of styles rather than a single builder look, which gives the streets a custom, established character under mature trees. The golf course has had an interesting history. After a period of decline it closed around 2010, and in 2012 a local businessman and a group of residents bought the course and clubhouse property with plans to restore it, including new greens and irrigation. Today it operates as Atascocita Golf Club. For many buyers, living next to fairways and open green space is a major draw, and homes on or near the course are worth a close look.
Pinehurst is in Humble ISD. A 2021 Community Impact profile listed Pineforest Elementary, Atascocita Middle and Atascocita High as the assigned schools, and we confirm current zoning for each address before you buy. The neighborhood has a homeowners association, and we provide its documents and deed restrictions during your purchase. For neighbors, the reopening kept a long stretch of open space in the heart of the community, and the club offers daily tee times as well as memberships, so you do not have to live on the course to enjoy it.
Everyday life is convenient. FM 1960 and West Lake Houston Parkway are close for shopping and dining, Lake Houston is nearby for boating and fishing, and Atascocita Park and Lindsay/Lyons Park and Sports Complex are within a short drive. Because the area is near Lake Houston, we review the flood zone and seller disclosures on every home. Students also have access to Lone Star College’s Atascocita Center, which opened in 2011, and the Atascocita Branch Library is close by for study space and family programs.
Buying in Pinehurst often means thinking about the lot as much as the house. We help you look at orientation, tree cover, drainage and any golf course frontage, and we pull the HOA documents early so you understand the deed restrictions before you commit. For bigger trips, FM 1960 and Beltway 8 connect to US 59 and George Bush Intercontinental Airport, so travel and commuting are manageable from here. Weekends often mean a round of golf, a morning on the lake or a walk under the pines.
If you own in Pinehurst, larger lots and golf course settings call for careful pricing that goes beyond square footage. Stacy Sherman can prepare a detailed analysis of what your Pinehurst of Atascocita home could sell for and coordinate the sale with your next purchase, so the move works on your timeline. If you are buying here, we help you compare course lots, interior lots and the townhome section side by side, and we look at roof age, foundation, plumbing and the condition of mature trees during your inspection. Many Pinehurst buyers are also selling a home elsewhere in the Lake Houston area, and lining up both sides is where careful planning pays off.
