About Woodbranch

Living in Woodbranch

Woodbranch, officially the City of Woodbranch Village, is a small incorporated city in Montgomery County a few minutes north of Humble. Developers laid out the original subdivision in the 1960s and named it for the abundant trees, and residents voted to incorporate in 1967. The 2020 census counted 1,330 residents, and the city still feels like a neighborhood where people know one another.

Interstate 69 and Highway 59 run right through the city, so getting to Kingwood, Humble or downtown Houston is straightforward. Even with the highway close by, many homes sit on wooded lots, and the city describes itself as a deed-restricted community. Mail uses a New Caney address because the city does not have its own post office. That combination gives residents a wooded, deed-restricted setting with direct freeway access to Humble and Kingwood.

Woodbranch provides its own police department with around-the-clock coverage, and City Hall and the municipal court operate from a newer building the city designed to double as a storm shelter. The same building hosts council meetings and the local Garden Club. For recreation, the city maintains nature trails and nature parks, and residents have access to Peach Creek, including a small sandy area for picnics and lounging by the water.

Students in Woodbranch attend New Caney ISD. Most of the city is zoned to Tavola Elementary, Keefer Crossing Middle School and New Caney High School, while a small eastern corner is zoned to Dogwood Elementary. We always confirm the assignment for a specific address. Woodbranch sits within the greater New Caney area, which took its name from the dense cane brakes along nearby creeks. The community was once known as Caney Station and adopted the name New Caney when its post office opened in 1882. Residents use the New Caney post office on Highway 59, and the R. B. Tullis Branch Library is a short drive up the freeway. Buyers who want a small-city feel without leaving the Highway 59 corridor often find Woodbranch fits well, and we can compare it with nearby Roman Forest and Tavola so you see the differences in lots, home ages and amenities.

Buying in a small city with established, wooded lots means paying attention to trees near the house, drainage, septic or sewer service and any city permits for past work. We help you review all of it, so you can focus on finding the right fit.

With Peach Creek running nearby, we review flood zone information and seller disclosures on every Woodbranch home we show, the same careful step we take anywhere near water. If you own in Woodbranch and are curious about your options, we would be glad to share what your Woodbranch home is worth and how established, wooded properties compare with new construction in the area.
