About Museum District
Living in Museum District
Few Houston neighborhoods let you walk from your front door to a fine art museum, a natural science museum and Hermann Park in the same afternoon, and the Museum District is one of them. The district sits roughly between Highway 288, Hermann Park, US 59 and the Texas Medical Center, and it is easy to get around on foot or by bike. The Museum District Association includes 21 museums, cultural centers and community organizations, 11 of them free at all times, among them the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the Houston Museum of Natural Science, The Children’s Museum of Houston and The Health Museum.
The housing mix is as interesting as the museums. Older sections such as Boulevard Oaks and Shadyside hold grand early twentieth century homes designed by noted architects of their era, in styles ranging from Tudor and Colonial Revival to Mediterranean. Contemporary townhomes fill in many blocks, and condominium living has grown steadily, with high-rise buildings such as The Mosaic, The Parklane, The Warwick, The Plaza and The Circle at Hermann Park. For buyers focused on luxury, the district offers both stately historic homes and full service high-rise condos with park and skyline views.
Getting around is simple. Four METRORail stops serve the district, one of them named for it, and the Rice University stop is close by. Drivers have quick access to US 59, Highway 288 and Main Street, and Hermann Park sits right at the edge of the neighborhood for morning walks and weekend outings.
Public schools are in Houston ISD, and we verify the zoned campuses for each home since boundaries can shift. Private options in the district include Presbyterian School and The Post Oak School.
Selling here means marketing to a wide range of buyers, from medical professionals working nearby to empty nesters trading a big yard for a high-rise view. Stacy can help you understand what your Museum District home or condo is worth and present it to the buyers most likely to love it. If you are moving up or downsizing within Houston, we are happy to coordinate the purchase and the sale together.
